Destination: Wilpattu
Wilpattu is one of the largest and oldest national parks in Sri Lanka, renowned for its unique system of “willus,” or natural sand-rimmed water basins that fill with rainwater. Located in the northwest part of the country, Wilpattu is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and many species of birds. The park’s dense jungle and tranquil water bodies make it a popular destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Due to its remote location, it offers a quieter, more immersive safari experience compared to other parks in Sri Lanka.
